Without being too much of an alarmist or focusing on the negative, the whole relationship of gout and heart disease makes it perfect for me to get in front of you with another plug for my theme: Prevention. We've all "learned" lots of things and some have not served us well. Just because I can drink a whole bottle of red wine by myself in an evening doesn't be I should. Just because that Fillet Mignon with the Lobster in Scallop and Shrimp cream sauce tastes so good . . . doesn't mean it's good for me. Taking advantage of the natural anti-inflammatory benefit of antioxidants and trying to stay with more "alkalizing" foods and water is very "learn-able" . . . and it can helps bring down uric acid. The second thing to re-learn in addition to just eating better, is eating and working to control weight. Sometimes a little assistance to start moving in the right direction with that can be a big help.
