One More Time . . . Is Gout Genetic?

Is Gout Genetic

And the answer is: They don't know for sure.

The "Is Gout Genetic" question gets asked all the time and there are a number studies that have been done that show a great deal of evidence that a gene variant may impede the ability of the kidneys to filter uric acid from the bloodstream.

Woohoo!

If you ask me, if your Mom fed you crap and your Dad drank too much when you were little, you'll probably get gout.

It would be good to know whether on not it's in your genes but, hey, let's say it is . . . now what're you going to do?

There are plenty of diets to reduce uric acid and different foods to avoid gout, but the question really is: "Are you going to do what it takes to follow that diet and avoid those foods?"

It really is the whole point of why I built this site. We can influence our genetics by what we eat and the way we live our lives.

Genetics or not . . . I'm not going let gout get me. What about you?
