Strong, Fluid Body Movement:
It Can Make Your Bones Feel Better

Movement

The whole idea behind Movement is the same as what we were talking about with Exercise . . . Habits.

Here's an idea to get you . . . "moving".

Just like taking a walk, maybe take some time to yourself in warm, quiet room and just start bending your knees. Then your ankles. Raise up on your tip-toes. Lift your arms above your head and swing them around in circles. Just start moving, slow and easy, feel how it feels.

Can you touch your toes? Easy now, don't over-do it! Don't over-do anything. See how far you can reach down without pushing too far. Breathe along with the pace of whatever your doing.

Wiggle your toes, roll your ankles, bend your knees, squat down and fold at the waist, arch your back, flap your arms, twist your wrists, clench your fists, look up, look down, look from side to side. Get the idea? Get creative, you can do this just about anywhere at anytime.

This isn't about suiting up, going somewhere and taking an hour off. The habit is feeling your body move.

Laying out a towel on the carpet and just getting on the floor and pulling your knees to your chest, rolling from side to side is what might work best for you. If you're getting old like me, just laying on the floor and swinging my legs out to the side and stretching out my hips feels great!

Make time for yourself, you're worth it. Start with 10 or 15 minutes a day . . . or every other day. Just start . . . just start creating that habit.

Maintaining a consistent method of movement is good to help manage the aches and pains and joint stiffness that comes with all kinds of arthritis. With gout it helps keep the uric acid levels down as well as keeping it from crystallizing.

If you really get into this and want to take it even farther, Tai Chi or Qi Gong might be a really good fit. It can help you stay healthy and feeling good, so rather than try to explain it, just click on the link below and and browse around.

Tai Chi and Qi Gong are completely amazing disciplines.
