"What Is Gout"
Are You Asking Me Or Telling Me?

What Is Gout . . . We Have To Address This Sooner Or Later So Let's Get It Over With Now.

Alkaline Water
Gout is when there is a high level of uric acid in the bloodstream. The uric acid then forms needle-like crystals in and around various joints in the body.

The symptoms of gout include swelling, redness, and warmth and stiffness in the affected joint. It can also be accompanied by a low-grade fever. The unbearable pain comes from two sources: the crystals inside the joint and the inflamed tissues around the joint.

Men are more likely to develop gout than women.

The general understanding of what causes gout is consuming foods with high purine content, the body creating too much uric acid itself, or the body's inability to excrete the uric acid fast enough.

what is gout?

Phew. I'm glad we're done with that. Little by little over the last 13 years I've become very familiar with all of that information and maybe you have too. A large part of my "what is gout" story is that at the age of 41 we discovered that I have only one kidney! This caused me to be very concerned about the use of prescription drugs.

My Gout Story

As I mentioned on the HomePage, I am not a doctor.

So with that I would like to issue my own Disclaimer. Anything and everything that you find here is based on my own experience and/or my own research and is not intended to replace the the direction or advise of your doctor.

My purpose here is to pass on what I've found that has worked for me and taken me from being on gout medication and still having an average of 2 gout attacks per month to no gout attacks at all.

Because there are other complications that can raise havoc besides just gout, my doctor is monitoring me closely to make sure I continue to bring my uric acid levels down, which I am working on furiously. I'll keep you posted.

I'd also like to state for the record that while I've discovered a natural way to be free of gout, western doctors and their medicine have a valuable place in controlling and managing this incredibly painful condition.

What I've become more focused on is the common symptom of all types of arthritis and many serious diseases: Inflammation

So when you ask me, "what is gout?", my answer is So when you ask me, "what is gout?", my answer is "Inflammation", painful inflammation. But there's a lot more to it than that.

Come find out more about the different ways that Inflammation occurs in the body, what causes it and how I've managed to escape it . . . and ultimately what's in it for you: No More Gout!
